| Robert J. Straka is a tenured Associate Professor at the University of
Minnesota, College of Pharmacy. Dr. Straka's clinical and research interests
center around cardiovascular pharmacotherapy. In addition to
conducting both clinical and laboratory-based research as well as
providing classroom instruction to Pharm.D. students, Dr. Straka has
served on formulary and guideline committees for the State of Minnesota and
local Health Care Organizations. Dr. Straka received his Baccalaureate Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto (1983), Ontario, Canada and his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Minnesota (1985), Minneapolis. In 1987 he completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship training experience at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, before joining the faculty at the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy. Dr. Straka's research is in the area of clinical cardiovascular therapeutics with an emphasis on the aspects of drug use in which either pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, or pharmacogenetics impact clinical outcome. Therapeutic areas of interest include hyperlipidemia, hypertension and heart failure. Dr. Straka is an active course instructor for Pharmacotherapy II (Phar 6122) for the section of cardiovascular pharmacotherapy at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. Dr. Straka also offers post-graduate a research training as either a fellowship in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy or Ph.D in Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology.
